About Campbell
Mahoning County, Ohio
Campbell is a city of about 7,900 people (2020 census) on the north bank of the Mahoning River in eastern Mahoning County, directly southeast of Youngstown. It began as a Youngstown Sheet and Tube mill town and was first called East Youngstown. That name still shows up on property deeds from 1902 to 1926. In 1926, the city took the name of James Campbell, the company’s chairman.
Campbell is about 21 miles east of Newton Falls as the crow flies, at the eastern edge of our routes. The closest big green space for dog walks is Mill Creek MetroParks’ Yellow Creek Park on Lowellville Road in neighboring Struthers. It’s open sunrise to sunset all year, and leashed dogs are welcome on MetroParks trails. Campbell’s compact city lots fit our weekly routes perfectly.
