About Austintown
Mahoning County, Ohio
Austintown is a community of about 29,600 people (2020 census) in Austintown Township, Mahoning County, directly west of Youngstown. It’s about 13 miles southeast of Newton Falls as the crow flies.
The township’s main park, the 220-acre Austintown Township Park on Kirk Road, has had its own Bark Park since 2013: a half-acre fenced area with agility equipment and a separate quarter-acre area for dogs 25 pounds and under. Outside the dog park, dogs must stay leashed, and clean-up stations are set up around the park. The township also has two trailheads on the MetroParks Bikeway, at Kirk Road and Mahoning Avenue. The paved 11-mile trail follows an old Erie Railroad line south toward Canfield.
