About Girard
Trumbull County, Ohio
Girard is a city of about 9,600 people (2020 census) in southern Trumbull County, along the Mahoning River and directly north of Youngstown. It was first settled in 1800 and is believed to be named after Stephen Girard, the Philadelphia banker and philanthropist. The city covers about 6.4 square miles, and part of that is water along the river.
Girard is about 14 miles east of Newton Falls as the crow flies, between Niles and Youngstown.
