Youngstown is the county seat of Mahoning County, with a small part reaching into Trumbull County. It’s Ohio’s eleventh-largest city, with about 60,000 people (2020 census). John Young founded it in 1797 along the Mahoning River. Today it’s home to Youngstown State University, the Butler Institute of American Art, and North Side neighborhoods like Wick Park, Crandall Park, Brier Hill, and North Heights.
