About Mineral Ridge
Trumbull County, Ohio
Mineral Ridge is a community of about 4,000 people (2020 census) that straddles the line between southern Trumbull County and northern Mahoning County. It’s named for the coal deposits found near the original town site. In the mid-1850s, John Lewis, superintendent of the Mineral Ridge coal mines, found black band iron ore under the coal, which helped fuel the area’s blast-furnace boom.
Mineral Ridge is about 11 miles southeast of Newton Falls as the crow flies. The MetroParks Bikeway’s Mahoning Avenue trailhead in Austintown is only about 2–3 miles to the south. Leashed dogs are welcome on the paved trail, which runs 11 miles toward Canfield. Mineral Ridge sits between Niles, McDonald, and Austintown, all towns we already serve.
