About Diamond

Portage County, Ohio

Diamond is a small unincorporated community in eastern Palmyra Township, Portage County, with its own post office (ZIP 44412) that has been open since 1880. It started as a coal-mining town where the Black Diamond Coal Company operated, and it was a stop on the New York Central Railroad until the early 1970s. Interstate 76 runs close by.

Diamond is only about 7 miles southwest of our Newton Falls home base as the crow flies, just across the Trumbull–Portage line. For an off-leash outing, Portage County dogs can head to the fenced dog park at West Branch State Park, which has separate areas for large and small dogs. Out here, yards tend to be big and neighbors far apart. We price by the dog, not the acre, so a big yard doesn’t cost extra.
