About Windham
Portage County, Ohio
Windham is a village of about 1,700 people (2020 census) in eastern Portage County. In 1942, the U.S. government picked Windham to house workers for the new Ravenna Arsenal, and the village’s population grew 1,148.7% during the 1940s. That was the biggest percentage jump of any town in the country. Windham is officially part of the Akron metro area, but it’s only about 12.8 miles from Warren, closer than its own county seat of Ravenna.
Windham is only about 5 miles northwest of our Newton Falls home base as the crow flies, so it’s one of the closest stops on our routes. The Portage Park District’s Headwaters Trail starts in neighboring Garrettsville, and leashed dogs are welcome on it. We’ll keep your yard clean between walks.
