About Canfield
Mahoning County, Ohio
Canfield is a city of about 7,700 people (2020 census) at the crossroads of U.S. Routes 62 and 224 in Mahoning County, surrounded by Canfield Township. It’s best known for the Canfield Fair, one of Ohio’s largest fairs. The fair is held at the Canfield Fairgrounds every Labor Day weekend and draws about 300,000 visitors. Canfield is about 15 miles southeast of Newton Falls as the crow flies.
For dog walks, Mill Creek MetroParks’ 402-acre working MetroParks Farm on Columbiana-Canfield Road has a trailhead on the MetroParks Bikeway. The Bikeway is an 11-mile paved trail on the old Niles and Lisbon branch of the Erie Railroad, the same line Canfield Fair visitors once rode to the fair. Leashed dogs are welcome on MetroParks trails, and owners are expected to pick up after them. We do the same in your back yard.
