About Champion
Trumbull County, Ohio
Champion Township is in western Trumbull County, between Southington to the west and Bazetta to the east, with Warren Township just to the south. About 9,400 people lived there at the 2020 census. There are no incorporated towns inside the township, but it includes the Champion Heights community on its south side. Champion is about 9 miles northeast of Newton Falls as the crow flies.
Champion is also home to the Trumbull campus of Kent State University. Next door is the 32-acre Clarence Darrow MetroPark, which has the Young’s Run disc golf course. The paved Western Reserve Greenway runs north through Champion, Bristol, and Bloomfield townships on an old rail line, and leashed pets are allowed on it. Pick up after your dog on the Greenway, and we’ll take care of the yard at home.
